KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- McDonald’s Malaysia today presented a RM420,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia, raised through its ‘Prosperity Kembali, Lebih Bererti’ campaign, which ran from Nov 20 to Dec 31.

McDonald’s Malaysia chief marketing officer Chin Mei Lee said the overwhelming support from customers had made it possible for the company to give back to the community through the campaign.

“We are truly thankful to Malaysians for supporting McDonald’s Malaysia’s efforts to give back to the community through the ‘Prosperity Kembali, Lebih Bererti’ campaign by purchasing the Prosperity Burger set.

“We are honoured by our continued collaboration with RMHC Malaysia and hope that this donation will have a meaningful impact on children in need across the country,” she said during the donation presentation ceremony here today.

Through the campaign, RM0.20 from every purchase of the Prosperity Burger set is donated to RMHC Malaysia to support the association’s various initiatives benefiting underprivileged children and families.

Chin said the initiatives include accommodation at Ronald McDonald House, the creation of the Ronald McDonald Sensory Therapy Room, cleft lip and palate surgery through the Anugerah Senyuman programme, and the Back to School programme.

Meanwhile, RMHC Malaysia general manager Nasri Nordin expressed his appreciation to McDonald’s customers for their support of the campaign.

“RMHC Malaysia is deeply grateful to McDonald’s customers for purchasing the Prosperity Burger set through this campaign.

“Every cent of the donation received through McDonald’s Malaysia is deeply appreciated and will help RMHC Malaysia further expand its programmes to improve the lives of children and families in need,” said Nasri.

Every year, RMHC Malaysia provides accommodation to more than 4,000 families accompanying children receiving treatment at hospitals, while over 4,500 children with special needs receive therapy at the Ronald McDonald Sensory Therapy Room.

In addition, 10,000 Year One students nationwide received Back to School Packs, while 100 children underwent cleft lip and palate surgery through the Anugerah Senyuman programme.
