AL-SULTAN ABDULLAH URGES RECIPIENTS TO CHERISH AND MAINTAIN ERC, RU'RASA HOMES

09/01/2026 06:28 PM

BENTONG, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has advised recipients of homes provided under the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and Rumah Rakyat Al-Sultan Abdullah (Ru’RASA) programmes to make their residences comfortable for the whole family.

He urged all recipients to foster a spirit of goodwill and harmony while maintaining cleanliness in their village surroundings.

“I advise you to take good care of these homes, which have been given to you at no cost. I also remind you not to rent or sell them.

“Though small, these homes represent a significant effort for all of us, and we should be grateful to Allah,” he said during the handover ceremony for Bentong district in Kampung Sungai Perdak, here today.

Also present was the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.

At the ceremony, Al-Sultan Abdullah presented the keys to 32 families, comprising 28 ERC homes and four Ru’RASA homes.

He also expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in constructing the homes to assist those affected by floods.

A total of 121 ERC homes, including furniture, have been completed across seven districts in Pahang, with a total cost of RM12.2 million.”

A recipient, Chow Loy Kee, 67, said he was overjoyed to receive a home after having lived in a relative’s container in a durian orchard in Karak.

“My house collapsed during the 2021 floods, leaving me with nothing. I chose not to rent another house to save for the future, so staying in the container allowed me to live for free,” he said.

Chow added that the new home has greatly eased his burden after he lost all his belongings in the disaster, with damages exceeding RM80,000.

Another recipient, M. Kasturi, 48, expressed her gratitude for the new home. Her family had rented a house in Karak for four years after their wooden house was destroyed by floods.

“At the time, nothing could be saved as the water rose to the roof very quickly,” she said.

Kasturi, a trader, said she, her husband K. Baskaran, 48, and their three children, aged 20 to 26, have been living comfortably in the new home for the past year.
