ICU JPM MONITORING PROGRESS OF 500 PROJECTS, INVOLVING OVER RM27 BILLION, IN KELANTAN

17/01/2026 01:19 PM

KOTA BHARU, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- A total of 500 development and infrastructure projects in Kelantan, comprising 118 new projects and 382 extension projects, are currently being monitored by the Prime Minister’s Department’s Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU JPM).

ICU JPM director (Kelantan) Jasri Kasim said the projects involve a total allocation of RM27.46 billion channelled through the Fifth Rolling Plan (RP5) under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12).

“Among the projects currently being monitored and implemented are the expansion of Jalan Pasir Hor in Kota Bharu, the development of Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (LTSIP), as well as the upgrading of schools and health clinics.

“We are closely monitoring all these projects to ensure they are completed according to schedule. If delays occur, appropriate action will be taken based on the issues involved,” he told reporters after officiating the “Kampung Angkat MADANI” programme at Kampung Guchil Bayam, Mukim Bayang here today.

Elaborating further, Jasri said the completion of these projects is expected to significantly improve the well-being of the people in Kelantan, particularly in terms of economic growth, social development and employment opportunities.

Earlier in his speech, he said nearly 10,000 residents from four villages have been designated as beneficiaries under the village adoption programme implemented by the Kelantan office of ICU JPM.

The villages involved are Kampung Guchil Bayam and Kampung Sungai Keladi in Kota Bharu, as well as Kampung Belimbing and Kampung Pangkal Manak in Tanah Merah.

“Various development initiatives and basic infrastructure repair works are being prioritised, including in Kampung Guchil Bayam.

“Among the works carried out in the village are the upgrading of cemetery fencing, drainage systems and village roads, as well as house repair assistance for underprivileged residents registered under the eKasih system,” he said.

Jasri added that additional projects, such as road maintenance and improvements to recreational parks, are also planned to enhance safety, ease of movement and community spaces.

He said the implementation of the programme reflects the MADANI government’s ‘whole-of-government’ approach, which emphasises effective coordination among ministries, departments and agencies to ensure that the basic needs of the community are met in a structured and focused manner.
