KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- Actress Nadia Kesuma, who was reported missing at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Thursday, has died of a heart attack.

The matter was confirmed by her husband, Prof Dr Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan Abdullah, in a Facebook post this morning.

Muhammad Kamarul, 57, said his wife died at 8.07 am on Thursday, the same day she was reported missing.

"Assalamualaikum, with great sadness and sorrow, I would like to announce the demise of my beloved wife Nadiah Kasumawati Abdul Karim, who passed away peacefully in Jeddah on Jan 15, 2026 at 8.07 am.

"May Allah bless her with forgiveness," he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate post, the actress’s daughter said the news of her mother’s death was conveyed by the travel agency at 11 pm yesterday.

“She suffered a heart attack and was taken to the hospital on the same day she arrived at Jeddah airport. Our family was not informed of her condition until 11.10 pm, when the travel agency itself conveyed the news,” she said.

Nadia Kesuma had joined an Umrah-London-Paris package organised by a travel agency together with 21 other pilgrims.

They departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 1.48 am on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry said the Embassy of Malaysia in Riyadh and the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah are currently providing all necessary consular assistance to the family to ensure that all arrangements are well taken care of.

It said in a statement that representatives from the embassy and the consulate general will be on-site to personally monitor the situation and facilitate the next steps.

“Following extensive efforts by the consulate general to locate the individual, including coordination with local authorities and a review of available records, the ministry has confirmed that the individual has passed away. The next-of-kin has been notified of this development.

“The ministry extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased during this difficult time. In this regard, the ministry also wishes to express its appreciation to the relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their assistance in this matter,” it said.

The statement said that the ministry reiterated its commitment to the welfare and safety of all Malaysian citizens abroad.

“In respect of the privacy of the family, the ministry will not be disclosing further personal details regarding this case,” it added.
