KANGAR, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- The implementation of the Kampung Angkat MADANI (MADANI Adopted Village) programme by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Kampung Santan Selatan here is focusing on the development of 10 physical and two non-physical projects, involving an allocation of RM1 million.

MOH, in a statement today, said the key initiatives include upgrading infrastructure and procuring assets for the Kampung Santan Rural Clinic; improving solid waste management through site upgrades and the distribution of individual bins; constructing signboards and road retaining walls; and upgrading Masjid Nurus Said Kampung Santan.

"In addition, village development includes the installation of Wi-Fi facilities and the upgrading of the Seri Santan Community Hall to support social activities, resurfacing village roads, and constructing drains and drainage systems for paddy fields and farm access roads.

"These initiatives aim to continuously enhance the safety, comfort, and quality of life for the residents," the statement said, issued in conjunction with the closing ceremony of the MADANI Carnival themed 'Menyemai Kasih, Menyantuni Komuniti', held at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Santan today.

The ceremony was graced by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail. Also in attendance was the Raja Puan Muda Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Also present was MOH Secretary-General Datuk Seri Suriani Ahmad.

Earlier in her speech, Suriani said the Ministry of Finance had approved the selection of Kampung Santan Selatan as a MADANI Adopted Village with an allocation of RM1 million.

She said the allocation was fully utilised to resolve local issues identified by the Federal Village Development and Security Committee (JPKKP), in collaboration with the ministry, government agencies, and government-linked companies.

"At the same time, I am pleased to announce that Sekolah Kebangsaan Santan has been selected for the MADANI Adopted School programme. An allocation of RM100,000 has been channelled to implement its programmes.

"These funds were used to upgrade school facilities and support initiatives to enhance academic achievement and student potential," she added.
