MAHB BOLSTERS AVIATION SECURITY ECOSYSTEM WITH 201 NEW PERSONNEL

30/01/2026 05:14 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has strengthened the nation’s aviation security ecosystem with the addition of 201 new Aviation Security Assistants (Auxiliary Police) who have completed an integrated intensive basic training programme.

The six-month training was conducted at the Air Hitam Police Training Centre (PULAPAH) in Negeri Sembilan and the School of Aviation Security, Malaysia Airports Academy. All personnel were commissioned at the Basic Training Passing-Out Parade held at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) today.

In a statement, MAHB said the intensive basic training programme was designed to produce security personnel who are resilient, uphold integrity and are prepared to face global security challenges.

“Over the six-month period, trainees underwent structured training encompassing discipline and outdoor training, academic modules as well as specialised competencies, reflecting the high level of professionalism that underpins MAHB’s security operations,” the statement said.

As the operator of the country’s main airport network, MAHB stressed that it bears the responsibility of ensuring all airports remain safe and trusted.

“Strong security is one of the key drivers of growth and is a prerequisite for sustainable development. In 2025, nearly 105 million passengers were handled across Malaysia, an increase of 11 per cent compared with 2024.

“In conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026, this growth is expected to continue, accompanied by higher and increasingly complex security requirements, making the role of aviation security (AVSEC) ever more critical,” the statement said.

MAHB said it will continue to invest in the development of security human capital as a critical component in ensuring passenger safety and protecting strategic infrastructure.

“This includes maintaining the confidence of the global aviation industry, in line with the nation’s aspiration to remain a world-class regional aviation hub,” the statement said.

Also present at the event were Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, MAHB chairman Dr Nungsari Ahmad Radhi and MAHB managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani.
