ALOR GAJAH, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- The Melaka government has allocated RM168.8 million in financial aid for the benefit of more than 34,000 recipients in the state this year, compared to RM164 million for over 30,000 people in 2025.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof said the increased welfare allocation proves the state government's concern for the people, in line with its slogan of 'Melaka Sayang Rakyat'.
"For me, the people's welfare is not merely a slogan on a banner, but a trust that must reach the doorstep of every family. That's why the state government always pays heed to the elderly, B40 families, single mothers and those in need because we don't want anyone to feel marginalised,” he said here today.
He said this after officiating the aid presentation ceremony in conjunction with this year's Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency's Chinese New Year celebration, involving 175 recipients.
Meanwhile, Ab Rauf said the state government has allocated RM200,000 for 1,000 recipients among the Chinese community in Melaka ahead of the celebration this year.
He said the aid will be disbursed in stages, according to the parliamentary constituencies, namely Masjid Tanah and Alor Gajah today, followed by Tangga Batu (Feb 10), Hang Tuah Jaya (Feb 11), Kota Melaka (Feb 12) and Jasin (Feb 15).
