KUANTAN, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, today opened the Bio Eneco Sdn Bhd plant, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Elridge Energy Holdings Bhd, in Gebeng here.
His Royal Highness was welcomed by Pahang Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology and Education Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abd Razak, Elridge Energy chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmil Khalili Khalid, and Elridge Energy executive director and chief executive officer Yeo Hock Cheong.
Also present were Pahang Investment, Industries, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Datuk Mohamad Nizar Najib and Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
The plant, which commenced operations last year, has an annual capacity of 240,000 metric tonnes. It processes industrial waste, specifically palm kernel shells, to convert them into high-quality biomass fuel.
Meanwhile, Yeo said the initiative effectively reduces resource wastage by converting waste into high-value renewable fuel to support regional and international energy requirements.
He added that the project also provides local benefits, including job opportunities, the development of local supply chains, and contributions to Pahang’s green economy.
