ZAKAT FITRAH IN PAHANG FIXED AT RM8, RM14 AND RM21

09/02/2026 09:41 PM

PEKAN, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- The Zakat Fitrah (personal tithe) rates in Pahang for this year have been set at RM8, RM14 and RM21, the Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MUIP) said.

MUIP chief executive officer  Datuk Ahmad Hairi Hussain said the rates, determined by the Pahang Islamic Law Consultative Committee, had received the consent of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

“The minimum rate of RM8 applies to all Muslims who consume local white rice, RM14 to those who consume imported rice or its equivalent, and RM21 for basmati rice or similar.

“All Muslims in the state may pay zakat fitrah from the start of Ramadan until just before the Aidilfitri prayers (on the first day of Syawal),” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Hairi said that 901 amils (tithe collectors) had been authorised to oversee the official collection of zakat fitrah and ensure it is carried out smoothly.

“Muslims in Pahang are advised to pay zakat fitrah only to amils who have been accredited by MUIP,” he said.

Ahmad Hairi also warned that unauthorised collection of zakat fitrah is an offence under Section 38 of the Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 2013, carrying a maximum fine of RM3,000, imprisonment for up to two years, or both.

In line with modernisation and digital technology, he said MUIP has introduced the EZ Amil application to facilitate the collection of zakat fitrah payments in a more systematic, efficient, and transparent manner.

The application allows zakat payments to be made in cash or through cashless methods, such as QR Pay, FPX, debit and credit cards, and Google Pay and Apple Pay.

In addition, Ahmad Hairi online zakat fitrah payment facilities are available through the official MUIP website and self-service kiosks, offering greater flexibility to the community.

“To ensure the smooth operation of the digital payment system, MUIP has established a strategic partnership with Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad for QR code integration,” he said.

Meanwhile,  Ahmad Hairi said that in conjunction with Ramadan, MUIP would distribute assistance amounting to RM18.28 million to 34,415 recipients under various welfare aid programmes.
