KOTA BHARU, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Police expect nearly a million vehicles to enter Kelantan in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) holidays next week.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said this is due to Kelantan folk returning home to fast with their families during Ramadan.
"As such, we will implement Op Selamat 25/26 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration from Feb 15-20.
"We will also ensure constant monitoring of the hotspots, especially in Gua Musang and Kuala Krai, as well as construction areas that can cause traffic congestion,” he told reporters after the Kelantan Police Headquarters monthly assembly here today.
In another development, he said that, so far, 62 illegal bases had been demolished, with the rest in Tumpat set to be torn down within one week.
For the record, 223 illegal bases have been identified, with 216 of them on government land and seven on private land.
