TANJONG MALIM, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- The Agro MADANI Sales Programme in Perak recorded a sales value of RM7 million last year.
Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli said a total of 285 programmes were implemented in the state throughout 2025.
"This year, FAMA plans to increase the number of programmes by about 20 per cent in efforts to continue to assist the people get basic food supplies at affordable prices, he said when met by reporters at the Agro MADANI Sales Programme at Medan Agrobazaar Tol Lama in Slim River here today.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin said the programme at Medan Agrobazaar Tol Lama, which began in February last year, recorded a sales value of RM328,707 up to January this year.
He said Medan Agrobazaar Tol Lama Slim River, located on the site of the former Slim River Toll Plaza, which was the first toll in the country to operate in 1966 before being abolished in 1994, has high potential as a centre for local economic activities and a catalyst for agricultural community development.
"Its strategic location on the main route, near various public facilities including several higher education institutions, makes Medan Agrobazaar Tol Lama Slim River a focal point for local residents, students, and consumers from outside the area," he said.
Earlier in his speech, Aminuddin said FAMA will continue to be committed towards expanding the implementation of the Agro MADANI Sales Programme in a focused and targeted manner, strengthening the role of Medan Agrobazaar as the main hub for marketing local agro-food products.
"This effort is part of FAMA’s responsibilities in ensuring the security of the national food supply and the continuous well-being of the people, thereby supporting the development of a sustainable, resilient, and market-oriented agri-food sector," he also said.
