SELANGOR SCN TOWNHALL PROMOTES DEVELOPMENT OF STATE CARE ECONOMY

SHAH ALAM, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- The Selangor state government, via Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS), organised the Selangor Care Network (SCN) Townhall yesterday to gather input from care economy stakeholders and outline initiatives under the Selangor Standing Committee on Care Economy.

State Women Development and Social Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari said the programme brought together more than 80 care economy stakeholders in Selangor, comprising care centre operators, individual operators and representatives of associations registered under the SCN.

The SCN Townhall session began with a presentation on care economy initiatives implemented last year, followed by initiatives planned for 2026 and a two-way dialogue session.

“The townhall also provided a platform for a two-way dialogue, allowing stakeholders to highlight real challenges on the ground, share practical experiences and discuss solutions.

“The initiatives set out for 2026 also address concerns raised by stakeholders, particularly care centre operators, during previous townhall sessions,” she said in a statement today.

Anfaal said the key initiatives discussed included the Guidelines for Care Centres and Nursing Homes for the Elderly, Children and Persons with Disabilities, which were approved at the State Executive Council meeting yesterday.

She said the programme also featured a public service announcement video on fraud prevention, produced in collaboration with the Selangor Social Welfare Department, to warn against scams using welfare-related names.

“The SCN Townhall is expected to equip stakeholders with knowledge, ideas and strategies to enhance service quality, strengthen networks, and continue supporting the growth of the care economy industry, particularly in Selangor,” she said.
