KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 (Bernama) --The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) today launched its ‘Ikhlas Memberi, Tulus Membantu’ campaign to promote the practice of zakat (tithe) among Muslims during Ramadan.

PPZ-MAIWP chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Hakim Amir Osman said Ramadan is an opportune time for the community to increase acts of charity, including zakat and wakaf, which directly benefit the asnaf group.

"The campaign emphasises giving with sincerity, so that every contribution has a lasting impact, particularly for those in need," he said when launching the campaign here.

He added that the initiative aims to foster a culture of giving consistently, while ensuring zakat and wakaf are managed with integrity and transparency.

The 2026 Ramadan campaign involves collaboration with strategic partners, including Nunha, Airali, and Petit Moi, to support programmes and activities throughout the holy month.

Abdul Hakim Amir said the campaign, running from Feb 19 to Mar 20, features podcasts with influencers from diverse backgrounds, usrah sessions, special iftar events with celebrities, and roadshows to popular locations.

"This approach is important to maintain public confidence that all contributions are managed effectively and reach those eligible," he said.

He also announced that the Federal Territories Shariah Advisory Committee has set three zakat fitrah rates for 1447H/2026M, namely RM8, RM15, and RM25, depending on the type of rice used, reflecting current market prices.

He said the public can fulfil their zakat fitrah obligations through appointed amil or via online channels provided for convenience.

He highlighted that, for the first time this year, PPZ-MAIWP is introducing the ‘30 Hari Berwakaf @Ramadan’ initiative, enabling the community to contribute to a different wakaf project each day throughout Ramadan.
