JERTIH, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has deployed over 177 officers to monitor compliance with the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) in conjunction with this year’s Chinese New Year.

Its director, Mohd Mufsi Lat, said 120 officers and 57 price monitors will inspect public markets, supermarkets, farmers’ markets, and grocery stores to ensure traders comply throughout the scheme’s duration.

“Inspections are carried out to check compliance and investigate consumer complaints, ensuring any trader violations are dealt with under the law.

“We urge traders to follow the set prices and mark the items with pink labels,” he said after launching the 2026 Terengganu state-level Chinese New Year SHMMP at a supermarket here today.

Terengganu’s Chinese New Year SHMMP covers 14 controlled items, including red onions, chillies, carrots, white pomfret, and short mustard greens (Japanese mustard).
