NUMBER OF FLOOD VICTIMS IN KINTA DECREASES

IPOH, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims in Kinta dropped to 11 people from five families as of 8 am today, compared to 26 people from 10 families yesterday.

The Perak State Disaster Management Secretariat said all victims are sheltering at Dewan Kg Tengku Hussein Manjoi.

“All the victims are from Kampung Manjoi and Kampung Tengku Hussein,” it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage said that two rivers in the Hilir Perak and Mualim districts are at danger level.

Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong is at the 3.95 metres (m) level, while Sungai Slim River in Slim has reached 25.46m,” it added.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), meanwhile, has forecast rain this morning in several districts, namely Larut, Matang, Selama; Manjung, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta and Kampar.
