KUANTAN, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- Mara Lasak Pahang 2.0 challenge, now in its second year, aims to foster teamwork and unity while promoting the state’s natural beauty and boosting the local economy and tourism sector.
State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal said this year’s edition, which will be held on April 5 at Felda Chini 1 in Pekan, is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants representing 100 teams.
“Last year, the challenge was organised for the first time in Ulu Dong, Raub. In line with the decree of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah that the event be expanded to other districts, the organisers have selected Chini to host the second edition of this programme,” he said during a press conference here today.
Fadzli, who is also chairman of the Pahang Recreation Council said this year, each team comprising seven male and three female participants must complete a 15-kilometre run while carrying a five-kilogramme load, traversing trails, hills and oil palm plantations.
The challenge will feature five categories, namely the VIP invitation category, uniformed bodies, government departments and agencies, statutory bodies and state government-linked companies (GLCs), as well as public and private higher learning institutions and the local community.
Winners in each category will receive cash prizes ranging from RM700 to RM2,000 and medals. Participants must be aged 18 and above, Malaysian citizens, and either born in, working or studying in Pahang. The registration fee is RM500 per team.
Those interested may refer to the state government’s social media platforms for further information. Registration opens today and closes on March 8, 2026.
