KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) has launched the ‘Program YKN Kasih Ramadan: HER Journey’ as a comprehensive intervention platform specifically focused on teenage girls undergoing challenging life phases.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, who is also YKN chairman, said the programme is designed as a journey to build self-identity, hope, and inner strength, stressing that these groups should not be left to navigate their struggles alone.
"While we enjoy Ramadan with our families, we must realise there are teenage girls going through difficult phases in life. They are at a critical stage of identity formation that requires support, confidence, and emotional stability.
"They need guidance and the opportunity to rebuild their strength and move forward with greater self-assurance," she said at the programme's opening ceremony here today.
The event involves 100 participants from YKN’s Anjung Sinar programme, aged between 15 and 19, including orphans, victims of abuse or neglect, and teenagers under court orders in accordance with the Child Act 2001.
Nancy added that the initiative aligns with the K.A.S.I.H core values introduced by the ministry, namely Kasih Sayang (Love), Akhlak Mulia (Noble Character), Sihat (Healthy), Ilmu (Knowledge), and Harmoni (Harmony) as the foundation for a balanced, inclusive, and holistically sustainable community.
