KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with Ramadan, the National Farmers’ Organisation (NAFAS), in collaboration with Suria FM, held the “Sehari Berbakti, Sejiwa Bererti” programme at Surau Al Munir, Taman Sri Nanding, Hulu Langat, Selangor, yesterday.

Highlighting the community service concept, the programme brought together NAFAS staff, farmers, local residents, and Hulu Langat Area Farmers’ Organisation (PPK) representatives, fostering stronger bonds among them.

NAFAS, in a statement, said that the programme’s hands-on approach provided opportunities for direct engagement with the community while strengthening bonds with its members at the area level.

“The initiative also serves as a platform to understand the community’s needs while reinforcing NAFAS’ role in supporting grassroots agricultural development,” it said.

Among the activities held were a gotong-royong to clean the surau, sales of farmers’ products, the Temu Peladang programme, and a bubur lambuk cooking session with the local community.

The bubur lambuk prepared through gotong-royong was distributed to residents in the surrounding areas, with Suria FM presenters taking part at both the surau compound and the nearby bazaar.

The programme also featured a Temu Peladang NAFAS session with Hulu Langat PPK, serving as a two-way dialogue platform to discuss current issues and developments in the local agricultural sector.

Also present to enliven the event Hulu Langat Member of Parliament Mohd Sany Hamzan, Dusun Tua assemblyman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz, NAFAS general manager Muhammad Faris Arriffin, and Chairman of the Hulu Langat PPK Board of Directors Mohd Yusof Harun.

As part of its welfare efforts, NAFAS distributed ‘duit raya’ to 25 orphans and 225 children attending the programme. In addition, a total of RM8,000 in donations was presented to the surau to support the organisation of religious and community activities in the area.

NAFAS stated that such programmes would continue to be strengthened as community development initiatives, while fostering stronger networks with farmer members, in efforts to drive the growth of the country’s agricultural sector.
