28/02/2026 07:08 PM

IPOH, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is now on a solid path under the MADANI Framework, recording various economic achievements and implementing reform measures under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

Nga said that the positive developments included an increase in foreign investment and the achievement of the highest trade value in the country's history, amounting to RM3.05 trillion.

"The performance of the ringgit is now the best currency in Asia. The value of the ringgit has increased from 4.80 to 3.88 against the US dollar, and against the Japanese yen, it has increased from 27 to 39.5 yen, while compared to the Indonesian rupiah, it has increased from 3,000 to 4,300," he said.

He said this when speaking at the DAP Ipoh Timor Chinese New Year Dinner attended by more than 3,000 visitors last night. At the dinner, he also announced that the event raised RM33,520 for DAP Ipoh Timor.

Commenting on the country's competitiveness position, Nga said Malaysia's position in the Global Competitiveness Index jumped from 34th to 23rd, thus placing the country among those recording the highest progress globally.

“These achievements clearly show that Malaysia is now on a solid path. So, I urge the people to continue maintaining the momentum of growth and reforms that are being implemented," he said.

Nga, who is also DAP deputy chairman, said the MADANI government is committed to implementing institutional reforms, including limiting the Prime Minister's term to 10 years and separating the roles of the Attorney General and the Public Prosecutor to strengthen accountability and integrity in the national administration system.

At the same time, he said the government also successfully passed a constitutional amendment to grant equal citizenship rights to children born abroad to Malaysian mothers.
