SHAH ALAM, March 6 (Bernama) -- Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) has allocated RM273,600 to implement eight programmes under the Ramadan Kasih PKNS 2026 initiative.
PKNS said the programme, organised annually since 2023, will benefit various segments of society including orphans, the poor, senior citizens, and the general public.
“Various welfare initiatives carried out throughout Ramadan are not only intended to channel assistance to those in need, but also to cultivate values of care, brotherhood, and togetherness within the community, in line with the spirit of the Ramadan month.
“Overall, the Ramadan Kasih PKNS initiative reflects PKNS’ continuous commitment as a state government agency in carrying out its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and contributing meaningfully to the well-being of the community, particularly in Selangor,” PKNS said in a statement today.
PKNS said that under the initiative, RM100,000 in cash assistance was channelled to welfare homes, including Pertubuhan Pengurusan Asrama Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Miskin Sekendi in Sabak Bernam and Kompleks Asrama Anak-Anak Yatim Pulau Indah in Klang, to support the operations and construction of the institutions.
“Additionally, the initiative includes Hari Raya clothing expenses and ‘duit raya’ for 26 orphans, provision of basic kitchen necessities for 50 elderly poor families, and distribution of 6,000 free containers of bubur lambuk to the public, bringing the total expenditure for these activities to RM73,600,” PKNS said.
Earlier, 500 PKNS staff members broke fast together with 26 orphans from Pertubuhan Pengurusan Asrama Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Miskin Sekendi during the Iftar Ramadan Kasih PKNS Programme held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre today.
“The children also received RM200 in duit raya each, presented by Selangor Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee chairman Izham Hashim, PKNS group chief executive officer Mahmud Abbas.
“At the same event, PKNS Senior Officers’ Association, represented by its president Wan Zuraimy Che Wan Zaid, also presented a RM2,000 contribution to the welfare home,” the corporation said.
Besides breaking fast, the event featured a religious talk titled “Kepimpinan Rabbani Mengemudi Cabaran Semasa, Tegas Pada Prinsip dan Pemurah Pada Bersedekah” delivered by Muhamad Abdullah Al-Amin.
The programme also included congregational Isyak and Tarawih prayers held at Aneka Walk, led by Muhammad Ammar Mukhlis Abdul Mohsin.
