HSB’S MULTI-STOREY CAR PARK TO BE READY BY END-APRIL – DZULKEFLY

ALOR SETAR, March 7 (Bernama) -- The RM13.96 million multi-storey car park under construction at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah (HSB) here is expected to be completed by the end of next month, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

He said the car park would help resolve the long-standing parking problems faced by patients, visitors and staff at the hospital.

“The facility is a federal government initiative to improve infrastructure at the government hospital, which receives a high number of visitors every day.

“The facility will provide 500 covered parking bays and 400 open parking bays and is expected to be completed on schedule on April 30, which will help reduce congestion and the shortage of parking,” he told reporters after a working visit to HSB today.

Elaborating, Dzulkefly said the Health Ministry continuously reviews the need to upgrade facilities at government hospitals to ensure the best healthcare services can be provided to the people.

He said the ministry channelled RM6.93 million in development allocations to HSB from 2023 to 2025, involving 63 projects.

He said the ministry has also added an invasive cardiology laboratory (ICL) at HSB worth RM22.5 million to reduce waiting times for heart patients requiring procedures at the hospital.

“This is the second ICL at HSB and is expected to reduce waiting times for patients undergoing procedures at the hospital by up to 50 per cent.

“The hospital is committed to implementing this, including with the presence of six cardiology specialists, and we also hope that with the development and upgrading of facilities at HSB, it will continue to serve as a key referral centre in the northern region,” he added.
