PAPAR, March 7 (Bernama) -- A new electrical substation in Kampung Takis, here, expected to be fully operational early next month (April), will provide residents with a more stable electricity supply.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said this project, completed on Feb 26, is now in the phase of transferring the load from the original substation.
The Papar Member of Parliament said the construction of the facility was a follow-up to residents' complaints regarding the issue of voltage drop below the nominal level of 216V in the surrounding area for a long time.
"This situation has been affecting the smooth use of daily electricity, even causing damage to equipment and the risk of short circuits, thereby disrupting daily activities," he said.
He said this in a statement after inspecting the project before attending the Iftar event at Masjid As Sobirin here today.
Meanwhile, Armizan said the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SE) has taken positive steps to complete four new substation projects in the parliamentary area last year.
He said the project involves substations in Kampung Beringgis, Kampung Sekayan, Kampung Kawakahan, and Kampung Sagang to address significant supply disruption issues.
In relation to this, he asked residents to channel official complaints to the SE authorities or the Papar Parliamentary Office if their areas are facing the same issue so that further action can be taken.
