CIDB LAUNCHES DCM TO ACCELERATE INDUSTRY DIGITALISATION

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has launched the Digital Construction Management (DCM) platform to drive the digitalisation agenda and enhance the competitiveness of the country’s construction sector.

The platform, developed by its subsidiary CIDB Digital Sdn Bhd, was launched by CIDB Malaysia chairman Datuk Yusuf Abd Wahab in conjunction with the organisation’s 25th Silver Jubilee celebration here today.

Yusuf said the introduction of DCM marks a strategic step towards accelerating the digital transformation of the construction industry, in line with CIDB’s commitment to expand the use of technology to improve productivity, transparency and efficiency in project management.

“Digitalisation is no longer an option but a necessity to ensure the country’s construction industry remains competitive in an increasingly technology-driven global economic landscape,” he said during the launch.

The ceremony also witnessed the rebranding of CIDB E-Construct Services Sdn Bhd (CIDBE) to CIDB Digital Sdn Bhd, reflecting the organisation’s expanded role as a key driver in developing the digital ecosystem of the national construction industry.

Also present were CIDB Malaysia senior general manager Suhaimi Mansor and CIDB Digital Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nazir Muhamad No, as well as industry players.

Speaking at a press conference later, Yusuf said CIDB, through myBIM Malaysia, has established the myBIM Centre in Kuala Lumpur along with 12 satellite centres nationwide to ensure industry players are prepared to adopt Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology.

He said the initiative supports the Construction Action Plan 2026–2030 (CAP30) and the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), both of which emphasise digital technology as a key driver of productivity and transparency in the sector.

Meanwhile, Nazir said the DCM platform is an integrated digital construction management system developed entirely through local innovation to coordinate various construction disciplines, including architecture, structural engineering and mechanical works.

“It also improves the efficiency of planning, implementation and monitoring of construction projects through digital technology integrated with modern solutions such as BIM,” he said.

He added that, unlike conventional software that requires high-specification computer hardware, the web-based DCM platform allows users to easily access project plans via smartphones.

Nazir said the platform’s capability has already been proven through its use in more than 60 large-scale construction projects across five countries, with a combined value exceeding US$8 billion.
