IPOH, March 16 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) continues to be the people’s choice to obtain essential goods at lower prices, especially leading up to Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Trader Khairul Azhar Zakaria, 36, said he took this opportunity to buy various items such as chicken, meat, fish and other items as their prices were much lower compared to stores or supermarkets.
"I spent about RM140 on wet goods and RM129 on dry goods. It (the sales) is indeed very helpful, especially with the upcoming Aidilfitri," he said when met at the PJRM, being held in conjunction with the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for the Aidilfitri 2026 at Bangunan Persekutuan here today.
Meanwhile, contractor Zaid Zakaria, 35, said he frequently visits these programmes due to the significant price difference compared to the regular markets.
According to him, his expenditure came up to over RM200 for wet goods and not more than RM100 for dry goods.
"Thank you to the government for helping the people. I always come to the Rahmah Sales Programme because there is a stark contrast in prices from other places.
"There are items that are cheaper by 40 to 50 per cent while the supplies are also easily available here compared to regular shops," he said.
Meanwhile, a higher education institution student, Nabilah Insyirah Mohd Noordin, 22, from Chepor, said she came with her mother to buy items for their Raya open house.
She said the items they bought included rice, chicken and dry goods as they were sold at prices cheaper than the regular stores.
"Alhamdulillah, this (programme) really helps us as we would otherwise be spending much more at the regular stores,” she said.
Meanwhile, Perak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living director Datuk Kamaluddin Ismail said a total of 266 PJRM events will be held throughout the Aidilfitri period, from today (March 16) to April 19.
