KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- Efforts to ensure the country's food security are the responsibility of all parties, and not solely the government's, said Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
He said the ministry constantly monitors every development thoroughly so that the country can be prepared in advance, in addition to ensuring the nation's food supply remains stable, sufficient and easily accessible to the people.
"We all have a role to play. Those with the space and means can start growing crops. Those in business should manage supplies prudently. As for consumers, avoid panic buying.
"Insya-Allah, with continued efforts and cooperation from all parties, we can strengthen the management of the country's food supply and face this challenge calmly,” he posted on Facebook.
Mohamad received a briefing earlier today on the latest status of the country’s food supply.
He said the current global uncertainties, especially the conflict in West Asia and global climate change, have had a direct impact on the food supply chain and the productivity of the country’s agricultural sector.
