KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives is expected to trade in range-bound next week, tracking the underlying cash market performance amid improved sentiment.

Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd equity research vice-president Thong Pak Leng anticipated that the FBM KLCI will trade within the range of 1,550 and 1,580 next week.

“We reckon bargain hunting activities may emerge next week, following thin trading during the week just ended due to the festive season,” he told Bernama.

For the week just ended, January 2025 contract rose 1.5 points to 1,561.0, while February 2025 fell 4.5 points to 1,557.0, March 2025 decreased 5.0 points to 1,539.5 and June 2025 declined by 3.0 points to 1,552.0.

Turnover rose to 108,467 lots from 72,443 lots the previous week, while open interest narrowed to 47,219 contracts against 70,293 contracts previously.

On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the key index slipped by 16.81 points to 1,556,92 compared to 1,573.73 a week earlier.
