KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia continued its downtrend, ending the morning session lower in line with regional sell-offs amid weaker Wall Street performance overnight.
At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 2.69 points, or 0.17 per cent, to 1,617.27 from Thursday’s close of 1,619.96.
The benchmark index, which opened 2.24 points lower at 1,617.72, moved between 1,614.60 and 1,618.85 during the session.
Market breadth was negative, with 766 decliners trouncing 273 gainers. A total of 449 counters were unchanged, 1,299 untraded and 20 suspended.
Turnover amounted to 2.66 billion units valued at RM1.39 billion.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 declined 2.43 per cent to 48.615.43, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index slipped 2.07 per cent to 25,300.28, and South Korea’s KOSPI Index fell 1.88 per cent to 3,857.24.
Among heavyweights on Bursa Malaysia, Maybank and Press Metal gained two sen each to RM9.92 and RM6.49, IHH Healthcare rose four sen to RM8.17, MISC was flat at RM7.79, while Public Bank, CIMB and TNB all shed two sen to RM4.28, RM7.51 and RM13.12, respectively.
On the most active list, Borneo Oil grew half-a-sen to one sen, Tanco was flat at RM1.03, Zetrix AI eased three sen to 82.5 sen, V.S Industry and HE Group inched down half-a-sen each to 43.5 sen and 36.5 sen, respectively, while Perak Transit shed one sen to 27 sen.
Top gainers included BLD Plantations, which jumped 50 sen to RM13.80, Formosa Prosonic, increased 47 sen to RM2.04, Kobay Technology, gaining 21 sen to RM1.61 and Eurospan Holdings went up 14 sen to RM3.14.
Among the top losers, Nestle trimmed RM1.10 to RM112.20, Malaysian Pacific shed 92 sen to RM29.78, Petronas Dagangan fell 36 sen to RM21.12, and Hong Leong Industries declined 26 sen to RM15.
On the index board, the FBMT 100 Index slid 36.45 points to 11,760.84, the FBM Emas Index was 42.90 points lower at 11,988.11, the FBM Emas Shariah Index narrowed 48.98 points to 11,975.65, the FBM Mid 70 Index dropped 125.89 points to 16,796.89, and the FBM ACE Index gave up 69.18 points to 4,904.38.
Sector-wise, the Plantation Index eased 1.23 points to 8,224.97, the Financial Services Index fell 39.81 points to 18,383.57, the Industrial Products and Services Index dipped 1.67 points to 164.73, and the Energy Index shaved 3.55 points to 753.74.
