BROAD-BASED SELLING DRAGS BURSA MALAYSIA LOWER AT MIDDAY

KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia ended the morning trading session lower, weighed down by broad-based selling across heavyweight counters and mirroring declines in most regional markets.

At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) decreased 25.80 points, or 1.50 per cent, to 1,686.85 from Friday’s close of 1,712.65.

The benchmark index, which opened 10.57 points weaker at 1,702.08, fluctuated between 1,686.52 and 1,702.38 during the session.

The broader market was bearish with decliners thumping advancers 858 to 315 . A total of 329 counters were unchanged, 1,240 were untraded, and 134 were suspended.

Turnover stood at 2.22 billion units valued at RM2.19 billion.
