KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Beyond national pride, Malaysia Day serves as a bridge for international relations, particularly between Malaysia and Iran.

By embracing shared cultural values and organising national ceremonies in both countries, this day can strengthen diplomatic, economic, and scientific ties, according to a statement by the Iranian Embassy.

Malaysia Day celebrated annually on Sept 16, plays a key role in strengthening these bilateral ties and offers a platform for cultural exchanges, fostering mutual understanding and respect between nations.

From traditional food festivals to religious and artistic events, Malaysia Day provides a unique chance to deepen the friendship between Malaysia and Iran, celebrating not only national heritage but also the shared values rooted in Islamic and Asian cultures.

“Holding joint events on national occasions can help improve the general knowledge of the people of both countries about each other, create social networks and promote new cooperation and friendship between the people of the two countries,” said the embassy.

The Iranian Embassy said it is ready to cooperate with esteemed Malaysian authorities to promote these ideas and has the honour to inform you that the Embassy will hold these events here very soon Insha’Allah.

According to the embassy, gastronomy is one of the important aspects of every country's culture.

“The culture of "Malaysian street food" is famous among Iranian people.

“Holding exhibitions and food festivals with the participation of both countries can help to introduce traditional foods and create more friendship among people,” it said.

The embassy highlighted that holding religious ceremonies such as Quranic competitions and cultural events such as film festivals in both countries can help bring people closer.

It noted that the celebration of Malaysia Day can also serve as an opportunity to introduce the scientific and research achievements of Malaysians to Iranians and vice versa.

“Establishing academic and research collaborations can also help to develop scientific and educational relations.

“Students and academicians exchange programmes and scientific cooperation can help strengthen the scientific relations between the youth of both countries,” it said.

Considering the rich history of both countries, the embassy said holding joint workshops and seminars can help increase awareness and understanding.

“By holding joint artistic, sports and tourism events on national occasions can help create a sense of solidarity and friendship between two nations and expand social relations between people of both countries,” it said.

The embassy sees the Malaysia Day ceremony is an opportunity to introduce Malaysian art, music and handicrafts to all Iranians and vice versa.

The statement from the embassy ended with “Happy Malaysia Day from all of us in the Embassy of Iran in Malaysia.”
