MADANI COMMUNITIES SERVE AS INTERMEDIARIES BETWEEN GOVT AND THE PEOPLE

SUNGAI PETANI, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- The MADANI community acts as an intermediary between the government and the people in ensuring the policies to be implemented align with the needs and interests of the people.

Sungai Petani Member of Parliament, Dr Mohammed Taufik Johari, said the MADANI Community acts as a platform for channelling the latest and bona fide information about government policies and initiatives so that it reaches people's knowledge in a targeted and continuous manner.

"At the same time, the MADANI Community also plays a role in bringing the voice of the people at the grassroots level to be conveyed to the government.

"With the existence of the MADANI Community, it is more focused on the policies that the government wants to implement. Even if there is information from the government that is yet to be known to the people, they play a role in channelling it to the people," he said.

Dr Mohammed Taufik told reporters today after opening the Kedah Level Kita MADANI Carnival at Dataran Bandar Perdana Sungai Petani.

Also present were Ministry of Communications secretary-general, Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Kuala Muda district officer, Datuk Abdul Gafar Yahya.

According to him, 108 MADANI Communities have been established in Kedah, covering 36 state constituencies.

"I hope the Madani Community can play a role as a link between the government and the people as well as a communication mechanism in channelling bona fide information to the community," he said.

Meanwhile, he said over 3,000 visitors attended the programme, which is held between 8 am and 5 pm.

"There are more than 20 exhibition booths by government departments and private agencies collaborating in the programme as well as 20 sales kiosks, including the Rahmah Sales Programme.

"Among the activities taking place include Budi MADANI Talks, Rahmah Sales (AGRO), exhibitions and services by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), Prison Department, Health Department, zakat and summons payment with a 30 per cent discount by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) as well as telematch games," he said.
