LIZARD ON THE TRACK CAUSES SUSPENSION OF SINGAPORE GP FINAL PRACTICE

21/09/2024 08:19 PM

MUNICH, Sept 21 (Bernama-dpa) -- Final practice for the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix was suspended for several minutes on Saturday because of a lizard on the street circuit, reported German news agency (dpa).

Drivers sat laughing in their cars back in the garage as stewards dealt with the jaywalking reptile. In 2003, a tiger got on the track in Malaysia.

The Singapore session restarted after the delay. Qualifying for Sunday's race takes place later on Saturday.

Title challenger Lando Norris, battling to topple world champion and standings leader Max Verstappen, was fastest in second practice on Friday, after Charles Leclerc had topped the first session.
