KLUANG, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- The song ‘Hussien Hussien for Mahkota’, featuring artificial intelligence (AI) vocals, is one of the strategies employed by Barisan Nasional (BN) to engage voters in the Mahkota state assembly seat by-election.

UMNO Youth Chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said that the song, which is composed in three languages - Malay, Chinese and Tamil - was penned by UMNO Youth Information Chief Mohammad Sollehin Mohamad Tajie and took just one day to complete.

The song was launched on Sept 15, during a campaign across social media platforms, including TikTok.

"Our candidate, Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah, is a young man, and this is one way of introducing him to voters, particularly the youth, as there is a significant percentage of young people in the Mahkota constituency.

"Today's voters, especially the youth, are not as interested in large-scale speeches, which is why we opted for an alternative approach by creating a song," he told reporters after participating in a fishing event with residents in Taman Ilham here today.

According to Dr Muhamad Akmal, the approach of using a song was also implemented previously during the Nenggiri state by-election, which featured a dikir barat concept, taking into account the election's location in Kelantan.

To ensure the accuracy of pronunciation and wording in the Chinese and Tamil versions, the song was reviewed by MCA Youth Chief Ling Tian Soon and former MIC Youth Chief K. Raven Kumar, both of whom are Johor Exco members.

Dr Muhamad Akmal noted that the song has been well received, as he witnessed young people singing it while meeting Syed Hussien.

The Mahkota by-election on Sept 28, will see a straight fight between Syed Hussien from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Mohamad Haizan Jaafar.

This by-election was called following the death of incumbent, Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain on Aug 2, at the age of 63.
