42ND ASEAN MINISTERS ON ENERGY MEETING CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY

VIENTIANE, Sept 27 (Bernama-KPL) -- The 42nd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) concluded with great success on the afternoon of Thursday.

Laos News Agency (KPL) reported that the meeting, chaired by Laotian Energy and Mines Minister Phoxay Sayasone, brought together energy ministers from ASEAN member states, along with representatives from Timor-Leste, the ASEAN Secretariat, and the ASEAN Centre for Energy.

Phoxay expressed his appreciation for the active participation of all delegations, particularly highlighting the insightful contributions from the energy ministers. Their recommendations were instrumental in shaping energy policies and strategies in alignment with ASEAN's vision, KPL reported.

Participants acknowledged the importance of stabilising the energy supply, emphasising the need to balance energy security with sustainable development. Discussions also centred on maximising the efficient use of ASEAN’s energy resources to benefit all sectors.

Key topics included fostering deeper regional energy market integration through initiatives such as the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) and enhanced gas pipeline connectivity.

These efforts were deemed essential for building a resilient and interconnected energy market to meet both current and future demands.

The meeting further emphasised strengthening collaboration with development partners and international organisations to enhance the sharing of knowledge and expertise in the energy sector.

Participants encouraged the adoption of innovative technologies in energy production and management to promote efficiency and cost reduction.
