YAYASAN BANK RAKYAT BAGS 'COMMUNITY INITIATIVE' AWARD AT ACES 2024

BANGKOK, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) received the ‘Community Initiative’ award at the Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability (ACES) 2024 here on Thursday in recognition of its efforts to improve the socioeconomic status of Malaysians.

YBR chairman Datuk Philip Benedict Lasimbang said that this award is the highest achievement for the foundation since its establishment to fulfil its corporate social responsibility to help Malaysians in need, regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion.

"This recognition proves YBR’s dedication and commitment to community empowerment in line with Malaysia’s sustainable development goals.

“We are committed and will continue to double our efforts to advance education and community welfare through initiatives that have a positive impact on the lives of Malaysians," he said in a statement on Friday.

The ACES Awards ceremony held on Thursday was officiated by the managing partner of Aubrens Sdn Bhd Dr. Jayanthi Desan; together with the chief executive officer and founder of Naterial Concept; Business Leader of Adeo Group; and ACES Award Advisor, Luis Bueno Nieto. YBR was represented by Philip and its general manager Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani.

This inaugural recognition received by YBR is due to its efforts in improving the socioeconomic status of Malaysians through education and various community programmes throughout 2023, which targeted underprivileged groups.

In addition, Philip said this honour reflects YBR's dedication to helping the less fortunate and serves as a benchmark to continue serving and driving the country to greater heights.

He also informed that YBR has spent RM28.35 million throughout 2023 for educational assistance allocations and community empowerment programmes.
