NATIONAL CONVENTION ON CIVIL SERVICE REFORM A PLATFORM TO ENHANCE PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING

19/11/2024 05:25 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The 2024 National Convention on Civil Service Reform, held concurrently with the Two Years of MADANI Government (2TM) programme from Nov 22 to Nov 24, aims to enhance understanding of the MADANI Government’s efforts to reform the public service for the well-being of the people.

Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) Productivity and Competitiveness Division director Wan Fazlin Nadia Wan Osman said the convention, organised by MPC and the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU), also serves as a platform to gather public feedback on the reforms implemented by the government to improve the country’s civil service.

“These reforms are continuous efforts, such as through the Special Task Force on Agency Reform (STAR), chaired by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and Public Service Reform Agenda (2024-2030).

“We will use this opportunity to communicate all the reforms that have been carried out,” she said on RTM’s ‘Selamat Pagi Malaysia’ programme today.

Wan Fazlin Nadia said the convention will also bring together public service figures, academics, and private sector representatives to share insights on collaboration and challenges underlying the public service reform efforts.

Additionally, the convention will witness the signing of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration between the Chief Secretary to the Government and 13 State Secretaries as a symbol of solidarity in strengthening joint commitment to ensure efficient, transparent, and effective service delivery at the federal and state levels.

Wan Fazlin Nadia also highlighted that the bureaucratic red tape reform circular (RKB), aimed at introducing new measures to expedite public service reforms, will also be launched during the convention.

The 2TM programme and 2024 National Convention on Civil Service Reform will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, attended by the entire government administration, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Cabinet, as well as department and agency heads.
