ROSYAM NOR SHARES EXPERIENCE AS A FARMER, THIRD ATTEMPT YIELDS SUCCESS

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) – Who would have thought that acclaimed actor and film director Datuk Rosyam Nor faced two major failures during his initial ventures into agriculture due to a lack of knowledge in the field?

Despite the painful setbacks, the agricultural icon shared that the experience taught him valuable lessons, even with financial resources at his disposal.

The veteran entertainer, whose real name is Mohamed Noor Shamsuddin, revealed that his third attempt, using his own capital, finally bore fruit with the successful cultivation of honey jackfruit and other crops at Taman Kekal Pengeluaran Makanan (TKPM) in Lanchang, Pahang.

"I failed twice in agriculture. But those failures were my biggest lessons because, at the time, I was overconfident... thinking that having money was enough to do it on my own.

"Actually, agricultural knowledge is crucial… Alhamdulillah, it's been 14 years now since I started farming at TKPM Lanchang," he said when moderating the talk show Role of Farmers’ Organisations in Food Security organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM).

During the session, Rosyam Nor, who has had a passion for farming since his youth, also acknowledged that income from agriculture had helped him expand his other business ventures.

He said that his collaboration with KPKM and related agencies to promote agriculture is not a new endeavor.

"Malaysians have made Rosyam Mart a recognisable brand, especially among the Malay community. So, I feel a responsibility to use my brand to promote the agricultural sector," he said.

The talk show, hosted on the main stage, was part of the Two Years of MADANI Government (2TM) Programme held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre over three days since Friday.

Themed 'MADANI di Hati, Rakyat Disantuni’, the 2TM programme concludes today, offering a variety of government ministry, agency, and department services. The event also features exciting activities and offers for attendees, including entrepreneur booths, fine payment counters, helmet exchanges, and the MADANI Rahmah Sale.
