AFA EYES ANNUAL GROWTH OF 2-3 PCT DRIVEN BY STRATEGIC INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- AFA Infrastructure and Development Sdn Bhd (AFA) is targeting annual revenue growth of two to three per cent, driven by strategic infrastructure projects and a consolidated operational structure aimed at enhancing Malaysia’s transportation network.

The company, which recently rebranded to reflect its integrated approach to infrastructure development, unveiled its vision following the acquisition of ANIH Bhd. The move places AFA at the helm of two key expressways—the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway (KLK) and the East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1).

AFA group chairman Tan Sri Azmil Khalili Khalid said the establishment of AFA marks a significant step in collaborating with the government to strengthen Malaysia’s infrastructure and economic resilience. 

“Our unified mission is to create a transportation network that not only enhances the national connectivity but also uplifts local communities and drives sustainable development,” he told a press conference after the official launching of AFA as a new identity here, today.

He said AFA’s operations have been streamlined into three divisions, namely AFA PRIME Bhd which oversees highway concessions, AFA Construction and Engineering Sdn Bhd which focuses on maintenance and engineering, while AFA System and Services Sdn Bhd will handle toll management.

Azmil said AFA’s flagship initiatives are the RM2.1 billion KL-Karak Widening Project, which is set to begin in January 2025 and slated for completion in 48 months, and the RM200 million Flood Mitigation Project for LPT1 which is scheduled for completion by December 2028.

He highlighted that the KL-Karak widening project involves expanding key sections of the highway to improve travel efficiency and reduce accident risks, while the flood mitigation project focuses on improving drainage systems, elevating flood-prone road sections, and stabilising slopes and embankments to ensure uninterrupted connectivity during heavy rainfall.

“Sustainability is another cornerstone of AFA’s operations, aligning the group’s initiatives with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and Malaysia’s net-zero emissions goal by 2050. Efforts include installing solar panels at rest areas, deploying electric vehicle charging stations along expressways and incorporating eco-friendly construction materials to minimise environmental impact.

“We are not just addressing immediate infrastructure needs but are laying the groundwork for a resilient and efficient transportation network that meets future demands. 

“By combining innovation in engineering with sustainable practices, we aim to set new benchmarks for infrastructure development that will benefit Malaysians for generations to come,” he added.
