KOTA BHARU, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- Renowned entrepreneur and influencer Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman hopes various parties will continue donating essential items for flood victims in Kelantan through the collection centre he operates here.
Khairul Aming, as he is affectionately known, said the centre, located in a wedding hall and run by a management committee of 10 members along with hundreds of volunteers, is currently facing a shortage of aid items due to limited supplies.
“For the four days this centre has been operating, the biggest challenge has been the supply of goods, because, as we know, the supplies in Kota Bharu itself are insufficient, so we need items to come from outside.
“Over the past three days, aid could not come in via land routes due to flooding, but today, thank God, people can enter, and we have just received supplies from Johor, Selangor, and other areas. We hope that later this evening, tomorrow, and the day after, it will be easier for us to receive goods,” he told Bernama.
He said the collection centre welcomes aid sponsorship from any party, regardless of whether they are large brands or small traders.
“In just two days, we managed to send aid to 17 destinations, including relief centres, madrasah, schools, and homes, covering approximately 7,200 victims.
“Today, we are working with the Malaysian Civil Defence Force to deliver aid using two trucks for 6,000 victims, including those trapped,” he said.
Khairul Amin also said that his team always inspects the quality of the items received for distribution, as they are concerned about expired food or unusable goods.
“We urge anyone who wishes to donate to try their best to provide quality items that we ourselves would use. It is true that flood victims are in an emergency, but let us do our best to respect their circumstances,” he said.
He added that the communication team at the collection centre is conducting live streams on TikTok to provide updates on areas in need of assistance before contacting them for further details.
“We will then send the necessary supplies directly to them. For locations inaccessible by car, we will collaborate with boat owners,” he said.
Khairul Amin added that the centre would operate at least until next Wednesday, after which the focus would shift to post-flood assistance.
Meanwhile, Bernama's observation at the collection centre found volunteers, including locals and university students, busy preparing individual aid packs to facilitate distribution.
The aid items are sorted into categories such as dry food, clothing, disposable diapers, baby formula, and medicines.
