UTEM INTRODUCES FIVE INNOVATION PRODUCTS TO ASSIST VARIOUS SECTORS

MELAKA, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) has introduced five world-class and high-impact innovation products developed by the university's calibre research teams.

The innovation products are UTeM Water Wheel, UTeM Off-Road Vehicles (E-ORV), Smart AI Surveillance Security System Drone, Energy Management Response System and Smart Fire Alarm System (Siakap).

UTeM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Massila Kamalrudin said all innovation products were created to benefit society and have the potential to contribute to various key industries in the country.

"The UTeM Water Wheel is capable of generating electricity from the UTem lake and was developed using latest manufacturing technology that focuses on converting small quantities of water into electrical energy.

“On the other hand, UTeM E-ORV is an electric-powered tractor that can be widely used in the agriculture and plantation sectors and can perform multifunctional tasks such as plowing, transporting agricultural produce, fertilising, spraying pesticides, and harvesting plantation crops like oil palm," she said in a statement here today.

She said UTeM E-ORV is also equipped with Internet of Things (loT) technology system capable of enhancing the capabilities of the driverless vehicle, while the Smart AI Surveillance Security System Drone is developed with artificial intelligence (AI) system equipment for agricultural use to monitor safety aspects in large-scale areas.

She said the Energy Management Response System is a smart display system equipped with AI to monitor and identify electricity usage on the UTeM Campus, while Siakap is a fire alarm system equipped with IoT sensors and AI to monitor and prevent fires in high-risk areas.
