KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- Maxis, Malaysia’s leading integrated telco, recently showcased its Maxis Mobile Identity solution to deliver seamless, secure, and simplified authentication experiences for mobile users.
In a statement today, Maxis said that the solution leverages a suite of advanced telco verification application programming interfaces (APIs), starting with Number Verify API.
“The Number Verify API authenticates mobile devices by verifying that the provided phone number matches the one used on the device based on real-time telco data.
“This ensures a simplified user experience from app onboarding to password resets and logins, replacing SMS-based one-time passwords (OTPs) or transaction authorisation codes (TACs).
“Through this solution, mobile numbers could be securely verified against valid and active numbers in the background without having to leave the platform, making user journey more seamless and intuitive,” the telco said, adding that it would enhance security by reducing user’s exposure to scams and fraud through SMS verification.
Maxis’ Chief Enterprise Business Officer Prateek Pashine explained that the adoption of such API-based solutions would unlock greater possibilities for businesses and industries to deliver more seamless and secure digital interactions end-to-end.
“With this solution, we are not only simplifying the process for users but also safeguarding them against fraud and scams,” he said, adding that the Maxis Mobile Identity solution was built for interoperability and federation amongst operators and the company was partnering with Singtel for the regional federation of telco API to enable network-based authentication for mobile subscribers.
“The partnership is rooted from the Bridge Alliance API Exchange (BAEx) initiative, which has been endorsed by 13 leading telcos across Asia including Maxis,” he said.
