MELAKA, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- The Communications Ministry is currently preparing for the implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), which will run from this year until 2030.
Its minister Fahmi Fadzil highlighted several key issues, particularly the challenges faced by the creative industry, especially the film sector, which is undergoing rapid transformation.
“There are several aspects that I have asked to be prioritised, including the need for restructuring and institutional reforms, as we see that industries such as filmmaking and the creative economy are evolving rapidly.
“Organisations must be ready to adapt to these changes by leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and other advancements,” he said.
He was speaking to Bernama after attending the ministry’s 2025 Strategic Direction work meeting here today.
Asked about Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship this year, Fahmi said the Communications Ministry will play an active role in informing the public about the nation’s contributions across various sectors.
“The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) and the Broadcasting Department will act as the official media coordinators and broadcasters for ASEAN.
“As for other agencies, they will be tasked with helping to educate and inform the public about Malaysia's achievements, outcomes and key issues discussed and decided upon at various ASEAN meetings and summits,” he added.
