ONE POINT FOR PENANG FC A POSITIVE SIGN OF TEAM'S REVIVAL – COACH

GEORGE TOWN, Jan 26 (Bernama) -- The single point earned by Penang FC in a dramatic match against second-placed Selangor FC at Stadium Bandaraya here last night is a positive sign of the team’s revival, said the Panthers head coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail.

He praised his players’ fighting spirit as they gave their all, even on a waterlogged pitch, to score a crucial last-minute goal and secure a 1-1 draw.

He said the team are aware that they can no longer afford defeats, and last night’s result was a relief as it ensured they avoided losing points entirely.

“This result is the outcome of the players’ hard work. Although the pitch was waterlogged for much of the second half, the players’ spirit was not dampened.

“We know where we stand right now. Perhaps this fighting spirit is the tonic for our revival. While we couldn’t secure three points, one point is still better than nothing,” he told the post-match press conference.

Meanwhile, the Red Giants head coach Kinoshi Katsuhito said the heavy rain disrupted his team’s rhythm, leaving them short of the victory they were on the verge of securing.

“Tonight’s game had too much rain, so we couldn’t play well. However, we should adapt to this kind of weather.

“We are never satisfied with just one point because our goal is always three points. We must secure three points and work to maintain them. This is our mission,” he said.

Selangor FC remain firmly in second place in the Super League with 39 points, trailing leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT). Meanwhile, Penang FC climbed one spot to 10th place, with 16 points from 18 matches.
