SABAH FC OUT TO END 22-YEAR WAIT TO PLAY IN MALAYSIA CUP FINAL

01/02/2025 06:24 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- A win against Sri Pahang FC in the second semi-final tomorrow night (Feb 2) will end Sabah FC's 22-year wait to play in a Malaysia Cup final, said its assistant head coach Alto Linus.

Alto said to turn that dream into reality, his men will have no other choice but to work hard and register a win over Sri Pahang FC at the Temerloh Municipal Council Stadium, since both teams are tied 1-1 after the first leg held in Kota Kinabalu.

"Tomorrow night, our main mission should be to go to the final. Sabah FC has not been to the final for a long time, 22 years ago to be correct. Sabah FC's performance needs to be better than the first semi-final at the Likas Stadium. We want whoever fielded in the match to be able to do their best.

"This is a highly anticipated time to ensure the dream of the people of Sabah to see them play in the Malaysia Cup final become a reality," he said in a statement today.

He said even though they will face stiff opposition from their opponents, Sabah FC remains focused on achieving victory even though they will not be playing at home.

In the first leg match of the competition at the Likas Stadium here on Jan 18, Sabah FC could only manage a 1-1 draw with Sri Pahang FC after goals from Sabah FC midfielder Stuart Wilkin and Sri Pahang FC captain Kpah Sherman.
