KUCHING, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- The Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak is working on identifying the source of floating wood debris in Sungai Krangan, Balai Ringin, about 88 kilometres from here.
In a statement today, the NREB emphasised that it is taking immediate action to mitigate the impact of the floating wood debris and prevent further environmental damage.
"NREB is also in close coordination with relevant agencies on the removal of the debris to restore the affected area and to minimise disruptions to local communities.
"Enforcement officers have already been deployed to assess the situation and determine necessary actions, while cleanup efforts are being efficiently coordinated with both public agencies and private sector partners to ensure swift resolution," said the statement.
The NREB also urges all plantation operators to adhere strictly to environmental regulations to prevent further destruction of waterways.
"Full cooperation from all stakeholders is crucial in maintaining sustainable environmental management and preventing future occurrence," it added.
