MELAKA, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- The Federal and Melaka governments allocated a total of RM135.413 million last year to channel aid to recipients in the state under the Melaka Social Welfare Department (JKM).
State Women's Affairs, Family Development and Welfare Committee chairman Datuk Kalsom Nordin said the total covered 28,609 recipients eligible for monthly assistance throughout the year.
"This includes an allocation of RM16.18 million by the Melaka government, specifically for the people in this state, which includes monthly financial aid, festive contributions, milk aid for the bedridden and adult diapers, involving 5,210 recipients.
"The rest is from the Federal Government, such as allowances for workers with disabilities, care for the disabled and chronically ill, children and the elderly,” she told reporters here today.
Earlier, she was a guest on the "Temu Bual Eksklusif Program Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (W.R.U.R)” segment on MELAKA fm, which was also attended by Melaka Broadcasting Department director Siti Norbaini Khairi.
Kalsom also said that 93 programmes are set to be held during the two-week W.R.U.R programme at the Pengkalan Batu State Legislative Assembly from Monday (Feb 10).
"The implementation of this programme, which ends on Feb 23, also has the cooperation of various departments and agencies, besides the Pengkalan Batu State Assembly Development and Coordination Committee (Japerun),” she said.
