MELAKA, Feb 23 (Bernama) – Melaka FC's consistent performance throughout this season’s A1 Semi-Pro League campaign has been the key factor in their triumphant championship victory, according to head coach K. Devan.
He said that despite being a newly formed team, the squad managed to maintain top-level performances from the beginning of the season to the final.
"After forming a new squad this season, we gradually built momentum with victories that boosted the players’ confidence, ensuring Melaka FC’s path to the title.
"We also recorded the highest number of goals scored, the fewest goals conceded, and secured the title with three matches to spare," he told reporters after their match here last night.
In their match at Hang Jebat Stadium, Krubong last night, Melaka FC sealed a dominant 7-2 victory over Machan FC, capping off a stellar campaign to clinch the A1 Semi-Pro League title.
Commenting further, the 64-year-old coach expressed his gratitude to team owner Datuk Nur Azmi Ahmad, who played a crucial role and showed great commitment in ensuring the welfare of the team.
"This team has also secured promotion to the Super League, but any further plans for the club will be decided by the president," he said.
As A1 Semi-Pro League champions, Melaka FC took home a cash prize of RM100,000.
For the record, Melaka FC finished the season with 71 points, registering 22 wins, five draws, and only one defeat.
