KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- Every year as Ramadan approaches, netizens flock to the TikTok account of local influencer and entrepreneur Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman, popularly known as Khairul Aming, to look for effortless buka puasa and sahur recipes.

Khairul Aming has been running his “30 Hari 30 Resipi” video series, netizens’ go-to digital recipe book, for eight years.

Easy recipes, including beverages, traditional dishes, snacks, and desserts, which he shares daily at noon during the fasting month, frequently appear on TikTok’s ‘For You Page,’ garnering millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes.

The content creator has come a long way since his humble beginnings of cooking on the floor in dimly lit videos. Famous for his signature tagline, “Hey, what’s up guys?” at the beginning of every video, Khairul Aming has worked persistently to improve the quality of his videos and presentations to make them more engaging.

Today, the entrepreneur produces top-notch cooking and business-related videos with compelling presentations, enhanced editing techniques, high-definition video quality and creative cinematography.

Recently, he revealed that he is spending over RM100,000 on live streaming and video production, including expenses for DSLR cameras, tripods, studio lighting, backdrops and green screens.

Speaking to Bernama at the Shopee Open House event, Khairul Aming said he would feature a mix of Malaysian, Asian and Western cuisine in the Ramadan segment to benefit his 5.5 million TikTok followers, spending tens of thousands of ringgit on ingredients.

He said that the recordings for the segment were done in advance, featuring over 30 recipes. The video series has also been renamed “30 Hari 60 Resipi”.

“…I would like to focus more on live streaming. One of our plans is to do live streams from various Ramadan bazaars…with the hope that I can use the Khairul Aming platform to promote local vendors,” he added.

When asked about the secret behind the success of his Ramadan segment, Khairul Aming said food quality and precise measurements are key components in all his recipes. He also credited the unwavering support of his followers, who constantly seek new and easy-to-do dishes.

“We have to maintain the quality of the food. When creating a recipe, I ensure it tastes good and has precise measurements. If I make a recipe that looks great but tastes terrible, people might try it once but won’t return for more.

“The important thing is to put in a lot of effort to ensure the recipes are delicious and easy to follow so that anyone can make them, even if they’re not a chef,” he added.
