As a result, he was forced to reshuffle his starting XI a day before the match, a decision that significantly affected the team’s overall performance.
“We struggled tonight due to a lack of (quality) players, especially in defence. Overall, the players made a lot of mistakes.
"However, they gave their best. I accept the result although I had hoped to earn full points at home,” he told reporters after the match at Stadium Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin last night, which ended 2-2.
The result meant the Turtles missed the chance to close the gap on Sabah FC, denting their hopes of finishing in the top three this season.
Meanwhile, Sabah head coach Martin Stano attributed his team’s dropped points to poor communication among his players.
"We started the game very well and created many scoring chances. But our own mistake in the corner kick denied us victory,” he added.
He said his players worked very hard and would have to stay focused on their last three games to secure their position in the Super League.
Sabah are third in the league table with 36 points while TFC are in fourth place four points adrift.
