ELON MUSK SAYS X IS IN MIDST OF 'MASSIVE CYBERATTACK'

11/03/2025 11:26 AM

WASHINGTON, March 11 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- X, the website formerly known as Twitter, is experiencing major disruptions worldwide on Monday that its owner and tech billionaire Elon Musk said were the result of a "major cyberattack" that could be the work of a state actor, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.

"There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X," Musk wrote on the website. "We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing..."

Users started to report outages around 5.30 am Eastern Time (0930 GMT), and while X was able to briefly restore service to most users just after an hour later, reports surged roughly three hours later, according to the DownDetector website.

X continues to be plagued by myriad problems including pages refusing to load, and timelines failing to reload.

The source of the hack remains unknown.
