BURSA MALAYSIA REMAINS HIGHER AT MID-AFTERNOON

KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia continued to trade higher at mid-afternoon lifted by gains in heavyweights led by Maybank and YTL Power International Bhd. 

At 3 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose by 1.45 points to 1,511.48 from Thursday’s close of 1,510.03, after opening 10.08 points lower at 1,499.95.

On the broader market, gainers led losers 532 to 340, while 412 counters were unchanged, 1,134 untraded and 13 suspended.

Turnover stood at 2.38 billion shares worth RM1.34 billion.

Maybank and YTL Power contributed a total of 2.88 points to the key index.

Among the heavyweights, 99 Speed Mart added six sen to RM2.07, Gamuda was eight sen firmer at RM3.98, Petronas Gas rose 10 sen to RM16.70, while IHH Healthcare and MRDIY fell one sen each to RM7.10 and RM1.34 respectively.

Of the actives, KNM and Sapura Energy were flat at 4.0 sen and 4.5 sen respectively, Saudigold slid half-a-sen to 1.0 sen, while NexG increased half-a-sen to 26 sen, and Oppstar was six sen firmer at 60.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index garnered 37.11 points to 11,287.66, the FBM Emas Shariah Index jumped 50.64 points to 10,956.42, and the FBM 70 Index surged 129.65 points to 16,118.78.

The FBM ACE Index soared 88.05 points to 4,618.59, and the FBMT 100 Index climbed 31.62 points to 11,062.63. 

Sector-wise, the Plantation Index increased 27.15 points to 7,358.80, the Industrial Products and Services Index perked up 0.69 of-a-point to 153.02, the Financial Services Index climbed 10.15 points to 18,582.34, and the Energy Index improved 10.70 points to 716.27.
